Sharjah, August 3 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Sharjah will host the 14th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) on September 10–11, 2025, under the theme “Communication for Quality of Life.” The event will take place at Expo Centre Sharjah, featuring over 22 interactive platforms.
Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the forum will focus on the role of communication in addressing future societal challenges across five key areas: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy.
This year’s edition will place particular emphasis on food security as a pillar of social and economic stability, highlighting the role of government communication in promoting sustainable food systems, smart agriculture, and biodiversity conservation.
According to UN data, over 670 million people may face undernourishment by 2030, with 258 million currently experiencing severe food insecurity. The forum will examine how responsive communication strategies can help bridge the gap between communities and policy.
IGCF 2025 will also address how communication can be used to transform health crises into opportunities to build more informed and resilient societies. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 45% of deaths among children under five are linked to malnutrition—an issue the forum will explore through communication-led solutions.
Alia Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB, said this year’s forum reaffirms communication as a strategic tool for development. “Communication is a development driver and a key element in shaping quality of life,” she said.
Since its inception in 2012, IGCF has evolved into a platform that brings together policymakers, experts, and innovators to share interdisciplinary insights. This year’s program will also explore the role of education in building generational resilience, with models focused on future-aligned curriculum development, sustainable agriculture, and climate-conscious skills.
Additionally, the forum will examine how government communication influences lifestyle patterns in urban environments, addressing issues such as waste reduction, responsible consumption, and sustainable living.
According to global data, 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted annually, representing 31% of total production. IGCF 2025 will explore how government-led storytelling can reshape public behavior, build trust, and drive societal change.
The forum will also spotlight the green economy as a critical enabler of food sustainability and well-being. Discussions will include the role of public policy and private-sector collaboration in supporting low-emission agriculture, which could reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% by 2050.
UN reports estimate that each dollar invested in sustainable agriculture generates 2.5 times its value in economic and social returns. The green economy is also projected to create more than 24 million jobs globally by 2030.
