Saudi Paralympic Weightlifting Team Aims for Olympic Qualification at World Championship in Georgia


Tbilisi, Georgia – The Saudi Paralympic weightlifting team is competing in the World Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia, from June 20 to 26, 2024. This event serves as a critical qualifier for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, bringing together over 330 weightlifters from 65 countries.


The Saudi delegation is led by Dr. Fawzia Hubani, a distinguished member of the board of directors of the Saudi Arabian Weightlifting Federation and chair of the women's committee. The team includes notable weightlifters Adnan Nour Saeed and Aseel Hawsawi, who have undergone an intensive 24-day training camp in Borjomi, Georgia, to prepare for the championship. Their rigorous training regimen has been under the supervision of coach Ali Mohammed Al-Yami and administrator Fathi Sadaqah.


On the eve of the competition, Coach Al-Yami and Administrator Sadaqah participated in the technical meeting, where they reviewed the competition's rules and procedures. This preparatory step is crucial for ensuring that the athletes are fully aware of the guidelines and standards they must adhere to during the championship.


The Saudi team's participation in this high-stakes event underscores the kingdom's commitment to advancing its presence in international Paralympic sports. With the guidance of their experienced leadership and the determination of the athletes, the team is poised to make a significant impact at the World Championship, hoping to secure their place in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
