RIYADH, May 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Saudi Film Commission (SFC) on Friday announced the launch of Jax Film Studios, a state-of-the-art production complex in Riyadh, marking a major step in the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to build a globally integrated film and media industry.
Set for completion in 2025, the facility will span over 7,000 square meters, featuring two 1,500-square-meter soundstages, a cutting-edge virtual production volume powered by Sony’s latest screen technology, a private cinema screening room, and fully equipped production and hospitality spaces including prep zones, dining areas, and a VIP lounge.
Strategically located in Riyadh’s Jax District, the site offers immediate access to key infrastructure such as five-star hotels, international transport hubs, and a growing talent ecosystem—making it a turnkey base for local and international productions.
“Jax Film Studios represents a cornerstone of our strategy to develop a world-class film infrastructure in Saudi Arabia,” said SFC CEO Abdullah Al-Qahtani, speaking at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, where the announcement was made. “This facility is built to the highest international standards—empowering local creatives while attracting global talent.”
SFC General Manager of Sector Development and Investment Attraction, Abduljalil Alnasser, noted that the studio will feature “one of the world’s most advanced virtual production stages,” utilizing Sony’s leading-edge technology.
The announcement comes as the Saudi Film Commission hosts the Saudi Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival, bringing together stakeholders from across the Kingdom’s media and entertainment sectors, including content creators, production companies, and distributors, in a coordinated push to expand international collaborations and showcase local talent.
Jax Film Studios forms part of the Kingdom’s wider national strategy to transform Saudi Arabia into a regional production hub, in alignment with Vision 2030 goals focused on economic diversification and cultural development.
