Saudi Energy Minister Meets COP30 President-Designate in Riyadh to Discuss Climate Cooperation

Riyadh, May 26 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met in Riyadh with Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President-Designate of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), scheduled to be held in Belém, Brazil in November 2025.
During the meeting, the two officials reviewed opportunities for climate cooperation and discussed joint efforts to advance the goals of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, with a focus on outcomes that are inclusive, balanced, and reflect national circumstances.
Talks also covered Saudi Arabia’s domestic and regional climate initiatives, including the Saudi Green Initiative, the Middle East Green Initiative, and the country’s efforts to scale up renewable energy and deploy technologies for emissions management, reduction, and removal.
The meeting highlighted Saudi Arabia’s adoption of the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) framework as a core component of its approach to addressing climate change, alongside other national and cross-border programs aimed at supporting energy transition and sustainability.
COP30 will mark a critical moment for global climate policy as countries gather to assess progress and set new pathways toward the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement.
