RIYADH, June 11 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been invited to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit set to take place from June 15 to 17 in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canadian media reported on Tuesday.
The Crown Prince's attendance has not been confirmed, according to CBC News, which cited two unnamed Canadian government sources. The Saudi embassy has yet to issue an official response.
While Saudi Arabia is not a G7 member, host countries frequently invite key international partners to participate. The G7 consists of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, along with the European Union.
The invitation comes amid heightened international engagement with the Kingdom over global energy stability and regional diplomacy, particularly as the war in Gaza continues. The Crown Prince was also invited to last year’s summit in Italy but did not attend.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has also extended invitations to a number of global leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
