Saudi Civil Defense Issues Weather Warning as Thunderstorms Continue Across the Kingdom

RIYADH, March 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The General Directorate of Civil Defense has urged the public to exercise extreme caution as thunderstorms are forecast to continue across most regions of the Kingdom until Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Civil Defense called on residents to stay in safe areas, avoid flood-prone valleys and watercourses, and refrain from swimming in them due to the risk of flash floods and strong currents. It also emphasized the importance of following official safety instructions broadcasted through various media channels and social-media platforms.

According to SPA, the Makkah Region is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by flash floods, hail, and strong downward winds stirring dust and sand. Similar conditions are forecast for the Riyadh Region, where heavy rains and strong winds may result in hazardous weather conditions.

The report further indicated that moderate to heavy rainfall will impact the regions of Madinah, Al-Baha, Aseer, Jazan, Qassim, and the Eastern Province. Meanwhile, Najran Region is expected to see moderate rain, and the Hail Region will experience light showers.

Authorities have called on all residents and visitors to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines as weather conditions evolve in the coming days.
