Dhahran, April 25 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to host the 25th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) for the first time from May 4 to 12, 2025, in Dhahran, with the participation of 240 students from 30 Asian countries.
This major international scientific competition is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The event will take place at KFUPM and is held under the exclusive sponsorship of Saudi Aramco.
The Asian Physics Olympiad is one of the most prestigious science competitions for high school students across Asia, designed to test and inspire young talents in the field of theoretical and experimental physics. Participating countries typically include those that rank highly in the International Physics Olympiad, making the APhO a highly competitive and respected academic platform.
Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Olympiad for the first time underscores the Kingdom’s growing leadership in nurturing scientific excellence and international academic collaboration. Since joining the APhO in 2012, Saudi students have won 16 international awards, contributing to the nation’s broader success of 854 medals and honors in international Olympiads and scientific competitions.
The event aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals, particularly in developing human capital, advancing science and innovation, and positioning the Kingdom as a regional hub for education and academic excellence.
