Saudi Arabia to enforce midday outdoor work ban from June 15

RIYADH, June 11 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) announced on Tuesday that it will begin enforcing a ban on outdoor work under direct sunlight from June 15 to September 15, 2025, as part of measures to protect workers during the summer heat.

The decision, implemented in cooperation with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, applies to all private-sector establishments and prohibits work under the sun between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.

The ministry said the ban aims to ensure a safe work environment, enhance occupational safety standards, and reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses and injuries. The measure is also expected to positively impact productivity and the overall well-being of workers.

To assist with implementation, MHRSD has made available the Procedural Guide for Occupational Safety and Health to Prevent the Effects of Exposure to Sunlight and Heat Stress and the Advisory Guide for Working in Hot Environments on its official website.

The ministry urged all employers to comply with the decision and adjust working hours accordingly. Violations can be reported via the ministry’s unified hotline (19911) or through its official mobile application.
