RIYADH, June 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.4% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same quarter a year earlier, driven by a strong expansion in non-oil activities, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) reported on Monday.

Non-oil activities rose by 4.9% year-on-year, while government activities increased by 3.2%, according to the report. Oil activities recorded a 0.5% decline during the period.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, real GDP grew by 1.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.

GASTAT said non-oil activities were the main contributors to annual real GDP growth, adding 2.8 percentage points. Government activities and net product taxes contributed 0.5 and 0.2 percentage points, respectively.

Most economic activities posted positive annual growth rates. The wholesale and retail trade, restaurants, and hotels sector recorded the highest growth, expanding 8.4% year-on-year and 0.7% quarter-on-quarter.

The report highlights continued progress in Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification efforts under Saudi Vision 2030.
