Saudi Arabia Records Over 15.2 Million Umrah Performers In First Quarter Of 2025

Riyadh, August 21, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said Thursday that the total number of Umrah performers in the first quarter of 2025 reached 15,222,497, with Saudis accounting for 24%. Men represented 60.5% of the total, compared with 39.5% for women.
According to GASTAT’s quarterly bulletin, 6,523,630 Umrah performers arrived from abroad, up 10.7% compared with the first quarter of 2024. The majority entered the Kingdom through airports, representing 82.2% of arrivals.
The number of domestic Umrah performers was recorded at 8,698,867, of whom non-Saudis represented 58%.
The bulletin showed that January 2025 recorded the highest share of Umrah performers from abroad at 36.5%, while March saw the lowest. Conversely, domestic Umrah pilgrim numbers peaked in March at 80.9% of the total, with January recording the lowest level.
GASTAT also reported that 6,452,696 people visited Madinah in the first quarter of 2025, including 4,412,689 from abroad.
The authority said Umrah and Madinah visitation statistics have been published quarterly since 2024, using field surveys, administrative data from the Pilgrim Experience Program and the Ministry of Tourism, and approved statistical models.
