Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Commitment to Chemical Weapons Convention at OPCW Meeting

The Hague, March 6, 2025 – Saudi Arabia’s permanent delegation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) reiterated its commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) during the 108th session of the Executive Council in The Hague.

The delegation condemned the use of chemical weapons, emphasizing that it is a crime under international law. It also supported Palestine’s request for monitoring and welcomed progress on the Syrian chemical-weapons file, calling for continued cooperation to resolve outstanding issues.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia praised the outcomes of the Rabat AI conference, highlighting its role in advancing CWC implementation and strengthening global efforts to prevent chemical weapons proliferation.
