Saudi Arabia Ranks Second Among G20 in 2024 ICT Regulatory Tracker by UN Telecom Agency

Riyadh, May 20 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia ranked second among G20 countries in the 2024 ICT Regulatory Tracker index issued by the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union (ITU), marking a significant achievement in the Kingdom’s digital and regulatory development.

The ranking highlights Saudi Arabia’s rapid progress in telecommunications regulation, digital infrastructure, and market oversight. It reflects ongoing efforts to create a forward-looking regulatory environment that encourages innovation, attracts investment, and supports the growth of the digital economy.

The ICT Regulatory Tracker evaluates 194 countries based on 50 criteria across four core pillars: regulatory authority, regulatory mandates, regulatory regime, and competition framework. The index is used globally by policymakers to benchmark regulatory maturity and adapt to the evolving ICT landscape.

The Kingdom’s latest ranking consolidates a series of international milestones in the telecom and digital sector. Saudi Arabia also maintained its second-place position among G20 nations in the ICT Development Index for the second consecutive year, and in the United Nations’ Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII).

Authorities said the continued advancement underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing leadership in global digital transformation and its commitment to building a competitive and innovation-driven ICT ecosystem in line with Vision 2030.
