Saudi Arabia Faces Thunderstorms And Strong Winds In Several Regions

Saudi Arabia is experiencing a wave of unstable weather conditions, with moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds affecting various parts of the country. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the weather phenomenon is expected to continue until Friday.

The NCM said that today, the moderate and torrential thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, are still forecast for some parts of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Baha and Makkah regions. These areas are likely to witness flash floods and reduced visibility due to dust storms.

Thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, are also still forecast for some parts of Tabuk, and Madinah regions, as well as some parts of the Eastern regions, while the sky would be partly cloudy with thunderstorms in some parts of Riyadh, Qassim, and Hail regions. The NCM warned of possible hail and lighting in these areas.

The NCM also issued a marine warning for the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, advising sea-goers to be cautious of high waves and strong currents. Winds will be northerly to northwesterly in the northern part of the country, registering a speed of 15 to 45 km/h, and northwesterly to southwesterly in the central part, registering a speed of 15 to 32 km/h, and southwesterly to southerly, registering a speed of 15 to 40 km/h, reaching more than 45km/h, with thunderstorms in the southern part. In the Arabian Gulf wind will be southerly to southeasterly, registering a speed of 15 to 35km/h.

The NCM urged the public to follow its updates and alerts on its official website and social media accounts and to avoid areas prone to flooding or landslides. It also advised motorists to drive carefully and avoid speeding in wet or dust conditions.
