DHAHRAN, May 12 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), hosted for the first time in the Middle East, concluded in Dhahran with the participation of 240 students from 30 countries. The event was held from May 4 to 12 under the theme: “Together We Generate the Energy of the Future.”

Organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), the Olympiad was held with diamond sponsorship from Saudi Aramco.

A total of 169 awards were distributed, including 28 gold medals, 37 silver medals, 59 bronze medals, and 45 certificates of appreciation.

Officials said hosting APhO reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to investing in human capital, empowering youth, and nurturing scientific excellence. The event also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s strategic role in the energy sector and its broader ambitions to position itself as a global hub for science, education, and innovation.
