Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Announce New Oil Discovery in North Wafra Field

Riyadh/Kuwait City, May 27 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The governments of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have jointly announced a new oil discovery in the North Wafra Wara-Burgan field, located approximately 5 kilometers north of the Wafra field, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The discovery was made by Wafra Joint Operations, with crude oil flowing from the Wara reservoir in the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well at a rate exceeding 500 barrels per day, with an API gravity ranging between 26 and 27 degrees.

The find marks the first new discovery in the Partitioned Zone and adjacent offshore area since production operations resumed in mid-2020, and is considered a significant step in reinforcing both nations’ positions as reliable global energy suppliers.

Officials from both countries emphasized that the discovery underscores their continued cooperation in energy exploration and production, and reflects the strength of bilateral partnerships in managing shared hydrocarbon resources.

The Partitioned Zone, located between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, has historically played a key role in joint energy operations, with production and development efforts conducted under mutual agreements between the two Gulf states.
