Riyadh, April 5 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Cristiano Ronaldo scored a second-half brace, including a late penalty, to lead Al-Nassr to a 3-1 victory over rivals Al-Hilal on Friday in a crucial Saudi Pro League fixture.
The result keeps Al-Nassr in third place with 54 points, closing the gap to three points behind second-placed Al-Hilal and seven behind league leaders Al-Ittihad, who are set to face Al-Ahli on Saturday.
Al-Nassr opened the scoring just before halftime when Ali Al Hassan curled a shot beyond goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. Two minutes into the second half, Ronaldo doubled the lead with a precise finish following an assist from Sadio Mané.
Al-Hilal responded in the 62nd minute through Ali Al Bulayhi, who scored with a close-range header from a corner, briefly shifting the momentum.
However, Ronaldo sealed the win in the 88th minute from the penalty spot after a handball by Mouteb Al-Harbi, confirmed following a VAR review.
Speaking after the match, Ronaldo credited the team's collective performance. “The team effort was crucial to this win and me scoring is important, but it’s more important to win,” he told SSC. “I work hard to help the team in the SPL and Champions League and don’t concentrate on individual records,” he added.
