Riyadh, April 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The JAX District, a key hub under the Riyadh Art Program, is hosting major events for the inaugural Art Week Riyadh, under the theme “At the Edge”—a title reflecting the capital’s position at the intersection of tradition and modernity. The initiative is being held under the oversight of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, in collaboration with the Visual Arts Commission.
Art Week Riyadh, which runs from April 6 to 13, marks a significant moment in the city’s cultural transformation, featuring over 45 galleries from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf region, and across the globe. Events are taking place in multiple cultural venues, including JAX District and Al Mousa Center, showcasing the growing importance of public art in Riyadh’s urban and cultural renewal.
The exhibition program includes a curated selection of artworks that explore contemporary aesthetic and intellectual themes, offering an immersive platform for dialogue between artists, institutions, and the public. It reflects Riyadh Art’s mission to activate public spaces and promote cultural engagement, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to elevate the Kingdom’s global standing in the arts.
The theme “At the Edge” frames the event as a meditation on liminality—highlighting the spaces where history meets future, nature intersects with urbanization, and heritage engages with innovation. Participating galleries present a diverse range of works that examine daily life, natural landscapes, and shifting cultural identities through various artistic mediums.
Art Week Riyadh further cements the capital’s position as a rising center for creative industries and international cultural collaboration, while supporting local talent and reinforcing the role of the arts in community building and social dialogue.
The Riyadh Art Program, a flagship initiative of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, continues to transform the capital into a living gallery without walls, promoting artistic expression and cultural enrichment across the urban landscape.
