Red Sea Global Unveils Laheq Island as First Luxury Private Residential Island in the Kingdom

Riyadh, April 16 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Red Sea Global (RSG) has announced the launch of Laheq Island, its first-ever private residential island, offering an exclusive luxury lifestyle experience as part of The Red Sea destination on Saudi Arabia’s west coast. The announcement marks a major milestone in the Kingdom’s tourism and real estate development landscape under Vision 2030.

Laheq Island is the first residential development to be introduced following the successful completion of Phase One of The Red Sea destination, which saw the opening of five resorts in 2023. Construction is currently underway for an additional 11 resorts on Shura Island, with Red Sea International Airport already operational and offering regular domestic and international flights.

Scheduled to open in 2028, Laheq Island will offer private residential unit ownership for the first time within the Red Sea destination. In addition to its residential offerings, the island will feature premium hospitality services and high-end recreational facilities for both residents and guests.

Located within an untouched archipelago of 92 islands, Laheq Island is surrounded by one of the world’s largest barrier reef systems, home to more than 2,000 rare and unique marine species. Spanning 400 hectares (4,000,000 square meters), the island will deliver a blend of nature, sustainability, and luxury, reinforcing RSG’s commitment to environmental preservation.

As part of its broader sustainability goals, RSG has committed to planting 50 million mangrove trees and enhancing critical marine habitats. Coral reef protection and regeneration remain central to the development's environmental strategy.

All facilities at The Red Sea—including Laheq Island—will be powered entirely by 100% renewable energy, making it the largest sustainable tourism destination in the world once fully completed. Phase One will feature 16 resorts, all of which are expected to become operational in 2024. By 2030, The Red Sea destination will offer 50 resorts, up to 8,000 hotel rooms, and more than 1,000 residential units across 22 islands and six inland sites. Red Sea International Airport will continue to serve as the main entry point for residents and travelers alike.

This announcement reinforces Saudi Arabia’s ambition to position itself as a leading destination for sustainable luxury tourism and global investment in premium lifestyle real estate.
