Doha, June 23 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Qatar said on Monday it reserves the right to respond directly and in accordance with international law after Iran targeted the Al Udeid U.S. military base in Doha in retaliation for recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
In a statement issued by the Qatari Foreign Ministry, authorities condemned the Iranian strike and described it as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. The ministry reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to maintaining national security and protecting all residents, including foreign diplomatic and military personnel stationed in the country.
“The State of Qatar considers this attack a serious escalation and reserves the right to respond in a manner consistent with international law,” the ministry said.
The Iranian strike on the Al Udeid base follows a series of tit-for-tat attacks between Tehran and Washington after U.S. President Donald Trump authorized strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend. Iranian state media had earlier reported that operations against U.S. targets in the Gulf region were under consideration.
Al Udeid is home to the largest American military installation in the Middle East and plays a critical role in U.S. operations across the region.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the Iranian strike. U.S. and Qatari authorities are assessing the situation.
Tensions in the Gulf continue to mount as regional actors respond to evolving threats. Qatar said it is coordinating with international partners and will provide further updates as the situation develops.
