Public Prosecution Refers Resident to Court for Running Fake Hajj Campaign

Riyadh, June 4, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Public Prosecution has referred an Asian resident to the Criminal Court for operating a fake Hajj campaign via a social media platform, with the intent to unlawfully seize money from others.
Authorities apprehended the individual in possession of receipts linked to the fraudulent activity.
A preliminary ruling sentenced him to one year in prison and imposed a fine of SAR10,000. The court also ordered the confiscation of all devices and tools used in the crime.
The Public Prosecution stressed that operating fake Hajj campaigns is classified as a major crime punishable by detention. It reiterated its determination to pursue violators of Hajj regulations and to protect the rights and safety of pilgrims.
