Prince William and Princess Kate Visit Scottish Isles to Mark 14th Wedding Anniversary

Isles of Mull and Iona, Scotland, April 29, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Britain’s Prince William and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, visited the picturesque Scottish Isles of Mull and Iona on Tuesday to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary and to undertake their highest-profile joint engagement of the year.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, regarded as one of the world’s most glamorous royal couples, chose to mark the occasion with a two-day visit to Scotland rather than celebrating privately at home. Their visit to the Hebrides archipelago underscores their longstanding personal connection to Scotland, where they first met as students at the University of St Andrews more than two decades ago.

Prince William, the heir to the British throne, married Catherine Middleton on April 29, 2011, in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey witnessed by millions around the globe.

Beginning their anniversary visit in the colorful town of Tobermory, renowned for its brightly painted houses overlooking the harbor, the couple appeared relaxed as they greeted well-wishers to the sound of a traditional bagpiper. They visited a local community hub and toured an artisan market, where they engaged warmly with stallholders and posed for photographs with members of the public.

On their official X account, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared images of their visit, expressing gratitude to the community for the “warm welcome and a brilliant afternoon spent in Tobermory.” They also voiced pride in supporting the renovation of Aros Hall, an important venue for local community events.

British media reported that following their official engagements, the couple planned to spend their anniversary in a secluded self-catered cottage on Mull, renowned for its dramatic landscapes and natural beauty.

The trip marks a rare joint public outing for the couple since the Princess began a course of preventative chemotherapy for cancer earlier this year, from which she is now in remission. The couple shares three children: Prince George, 11; Princess Charlotte, 9; and Prince Louis, 7.

Prince William, who holds the title Lord of the Isles, has previously spoken of his strong personal ties to Scotland. “Scotland is incredibly important to me and will always have a special place in my heart,” he said in 2021. “George, Charlotte and Louis already know how dear Scotland is to both of us... We have no doubt they will grow up sharing our love and connection to Scotland.”
