Prince Khalid bin Salman to Open World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh Under Royal Patronage

Riyadh, August 19, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and on his behalf, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense and Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), will inaugurate the third edition of the World Defense Show (WDS) in Riyadh, scheduled from February 8 to 12, 2026.

The World Defense Show aims to cement its position as a leading international defense event, providing a future-focused platform that integrates all domains of the defense industry. The event is fully supported by ministries, authorities, and strategic entities across the Kingdom’s public and private sectors.

GAMI Governor Ahmad Al-Ohali expressed gratitude to King Salman and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister and Chairman of GAMI, for their patronage and support of the military industries sector.

“The royal patronage is an extension of the leadership’s commitment to localizing 50% of military expenditure in line with Vision 2030,” Al-Ohali said. “This commitment exemplifies our dedication to fostering global partnerships, leveraging our strategic location, and harnessing the Kingdom’s industrial capabilities.”

World Defense Show CEO Andrew Pearcey said the 2026 edition would expand on government-industry collaboration to provide a global meeting point for the defense supply chain. “Through expanded venue capacity, cutting-edge content, and a strong focus on technology transfer and talent development, WDS 2026 will serve as a global catalyst—bringing together leaders, innovators, and emerging talent to chart the path for the defense industry’s future,” he said.

The 2026 edition will expand with a fourth exhibition hall, increasing total space by 58% compared to the inaugural event. The 2024 show featured 773 exhibitors from 76 countries, hosted 441 official delegations, facilitated SAR26 billion in deals, and attracted 106,000 trade visits.
