Tunis, April 24 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Chair of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR), signed two cooperation agreements on Tuesday with CAWTAR aimed at strengthening women’s economic empowerment and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 25th Board of Trustees meeting of CAWTAR, chaired by Prince Abdulaziz and attended by Tunisian Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly Asma Jebri. The meeting underscored shared regional efforts to promote inclusive development and institutional collaboration.

The first agreement, titled “Institutional Building Support for the Arab Women Center for Training and Research (CAWTAR) for 2025,” focuses on supporting CAWTAR’s Regional Financial Literacy Excellence Center (RFLEC). The initiative aims to expand economic empowerment opportunities for women by promoting income-generating programs and building institutional capacity.

The second agreement, titled “Empowering Women in Vulnerable Situations to Improve Their Social and Economic Status, Enhance Agricultural Contributions, and Tackle Climate Change Impacts,” will be implemented in Tunisia, Senegal, and Jordan. The project targets women in vulnerable settings and promotes sustainable, eco-friendly practices in agriculture, while addressing the social and economic challenges they face.

Both agreements reflect the long-standing cooperation between AGFUND and CAWTAR and build upon shared commitments to the 2030 SDGs and the outcomes of COP28, which took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2023.

In a joint statement, AGFUND and CAWTAR reaffirmed their dedication to promoting women’s rights, building local capacities, and supporting initiatives that drive sustainable, inclusive development across the Arab region and beyond.
