NEOM And Rajasthan Royals Join Forces To Promote Cricket In Saudi Arabia


NEOM, the futuristic smart city in Saudi Arabia, has announced a partnership with Rajasthan Royals, one of the leading teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), to launch its first-ever cricket program. The initiative aims to foster an active and healthy lifestyle among the growing workforce and residents of NEOM, as well as to contribute to the development of cricket in the Kingdom.  The pilot program will focus on inclusivity and innovation, reflecting the values of both NEOM and Rajasthan Royals. Cricket is already one of the most popular sports in NEOM, with thousands of workers and spectators participating and enjoying the game on site. The partnership will provide coaching, training and equipment to enhance the skills and enjoyment of cricket enthusiasts in NEOM.  Rajasthan Royals is one of the founding teams of the IPL, the world’s most lucrative and watched cricket league. The team is known for its academies and community foundation work, as well as for its success on the field. The team has won the IPL title once, in 2008, and has reached the playoffs four times.  To mark the partnership, Manoj Badale, the lead owner of Rajasthan Royals, visited NEOM on Monday to meet Nadhmi Al-Nasr, the CEO of NEOM, and other community members. He also took part in some cricket sessions and interacted with the players and coaches.  Badale said: “We are thrilled to partner with NEOM and launch this grassroots cricket program. This partnership allows us to contribute to NEOM’s vision of fostering an inclusive, active, and healthy community. We look forward to witnessing the growth of cricket within NEOM and creating a lasting impact for the workforce, residents, and society”.  NEOM is a visionary project that aims to create a new model for sustainable living, working and prospering. It covers an area of 26,500 square kilomenters along the northwestern coast of Saudi Arabia. It aspires to be an innovative destination for sport, partnering with global sports brands, championing livability for its residents, and contributing to its dynamic economy.  Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud, the chairman of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation, said: “It’s important that we develop a thriving cricket ecosystem that can be enjoyed by everyone. We are excited to see NEOM’s cricket program partnered by Rajasthan offer that while also contributing to the growth of the sport in the Kingdom”.  Jan Paterson, the managing director of NEOM Sport, said: “NEOM is committed to nurturing the most physically active society globally and our partnership with the Royals is the latest step in making that vision a reality. Cricket is already a hugely popular sport in NEOM and we want to capture and nurture that enthusiasm and make sure it is being felt throughout the region. Working with the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation and the Royals will enable us to provide cricket for men and women, girls and boys alike, in the community of NEOM”.
