Moldovan Foreign Minister Visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, accompanied by an official delegation.

Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, welcomed Popșoi and led the delegation on a tour of the mosque’s grand halls and exterior corridors, offering insights into its cultural and architectural significance.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the mosque’s mission to promote coexistence, tolerance, and openness — values inspired by the vision of the UAE’s founding father. The group also learned about the Centre’s global initiatives to promote Islamic culture and foster cross-cultural dialogue.

The tour highlighted the mosque’s architectural design, featuring intricate Islamic art and a harmonious blend of styles representing various Islamic civilisations. The guests viewed rare artistic elements and collections that reflect the mosque’s cultural and religious prominence.

At the end of the visit, the Moldovan foreign minister received a copy of the book “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: A Light of Peace”, which documents the mosque’s architectural and spiritual importance through award-winning photographs from the “Spaces of Light” competition.
