Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Next Public Appearance Will Be At The UN General Assembly in NYC





PARIS, France - The Island of Manhattan will see Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tomorrow attending the United Nations General Assemble in honor of Nelson Mandela Day on July 18. The couple, who last made their public appearance together during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, will be visiting New York City for the third time in less than a year.


According to reports from the UN, Prince Harry is set to deliver the keynote speech at the humanitarian event. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met Mandela's widow, Graca Machel during a trip to South Africa back in 2019 and have active in honoring the late president since then. The late Prince Diana also shared a sweet bond with he anti - apartheid activist and met Mandela in Johannesburg in 1997, months before her early death. The two activists held each other in high regard and often praised each other and their work in public.


Markle and Harry,who moved to California in 2020, made a visit to the Big Apple in September 2021. They visited One World Observatory at the World Trade Center with former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio as well as New York Governor Kathy Hochul. The couple also made an appearance at the Global Citizen Live event and later returned in November for the Salute to Freedom Gala.


Although Markle will not be speaking this time, the 40 - year - old delivered the keynote speech on gender equality at the UN women's conference on International Women's Day in 2015, along with her mother Doria Regland. The trip to NYC will be the couple's first high - profile trip together since their low - key to London earlier this year to honor the Queen. The quick trip to the UK was also their second born, Lilibet's first visit to her father's home country.
