Heritage Commission Highlights Camel Tools at King Abdulaziz Camel Festival

Riyadh, Dec. 27 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Heritage Commission pavilion at the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival is offering visitors a glimpse into the traditional tools Arabs used in their daily interactions with camels, focusing on two key items: "Al-shaddad" and "Al-ja'ed."

Al-shaddad, a wooden structure placed on a camel's hump, served multiple purposes in the past, functioning as a seat for shepherds, a holder for saddles, and a connector for wool bags. Al-ja'ed, made from tanned, hairless leather, was used to cover Al-shaddad, offering protection from extreme weather conditions. Known for its vibrant colors, intricate engravings, and decorative fringes, Al-ja'ed showcases the craftsmanship and artistry of earlier generations.

Through this dedicated exhibit, the Heritage Commission seeks to educate visitors about the historical significance of these tools and their role in traditional camel-herding practices. The display reflects the enduring cultural connection between camels and the identity of the region.

By preserving and showcasing these artifacts, the festival emphasizes the importance of maintaining and celebrating Saudi Arabia's rich cultural heritage.
