Cairo, April 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed their unified stance against the displacement of Palestinians and stressed the urgent need to end hostilities in the Gaza Strip, as part of efforts to advance the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan, officials announced Tuesday.
During a joint press conference held at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, stated that the two leaders highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts for post-ceasefire reconstruction in Gaza, including France's involvement in hosting a dedicated conference to support rebuilding the war-affected enclave.
President El-Sisi and President Macron also signed a joint declaration elevating bilateral relations to the level of Strategic Partnership, marking a significant development in Egypt-France diplomatic ties. The two heads of state witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) across various sectors aimed at enhancing cooperation.
In remarks during the joint appearance, President El-Sisi said the upgraded partnership would open “new horizons” for collaboration and contribute to regional stability, particularly in light of ongoing humanitarian crises.
The discussions also focused on a range of regional and international developments, with particular emphasis on the situation in Gaza, where months of conflict have triggered widespread civilian suffering. Both presidents reiterated the urgency of implementing a ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid, and initiating a long-term recovery framework.
On Syria, President El-Sisi underlined Egypt and France’s shared commitment to preserving the unity and territorial integrity of the country and called for the continuation of an inclusive political process during its transition period.
The French President’s visit comes amid growing international efforts to contain regional instability and explore mechanisms for post-conflict reconstruction across the Middle East.
