Dust-Stirring Winds and Thunderstorms Expected in Southern Regions of the Kingdom

RIYADH, March 27, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert indicating that parts of southern Saudi Arabia will experience unstable weather conditions today, including dust-stirring winds and moderate to heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail.

According to the NCM, affected regions will include Najran, Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha, and Makkah. Fog formation is also expected over the highland areas, reducing visibility and posing challenges for drivers and outdoor activities.

Wind patterns over the Red Sea will shift throughout the day. In the northern and central parts, winds will initially blow northeasterly to northwesterly at 10–25 km/h, turning southeasterly to northeasterly in the evening. In the southern part, wind speeds will range between 12–45 km/h from the southwest to southeast. Wave heights may reach up to two meters, with sea conditions ranging from relatively calm to choppy.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds are forecast to be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 10–22 km/h. Waves may range from half a meter to one meter, and the sea will remain calm.

The NCM advises the public to stay updated on weather forecasts and exercise caution, especially in areas prone to flooding or reduced visibility.
