Dubai, May 21 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The Dubai Maritime Authority, part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, announced on Wednesday the launch of a Remote Technical Inspection Service for the renewal of licences for pleasure marine vessels up to 12 meters in length, pleasure water sports crafts, and foreign visiting marine vessels.
The new service allows customers to complete inspection procedures remotely, aligning with international best practices and advancing Dubai’s digital transformation agenda in the maritime sector.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of the Dubai Maritime Authority, said the initiative supports directives issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to simplify services, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance government performance through innovative digital models.
“Launching the remote technical inspection service reflects our commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and providing innovative solutions that keep pace with global developments,” Sheikh Saeed said.
The digital service is designed to improve accessibility and service continuity while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. It enables customers to conduct inspections without the need for in-person visits, contributing to faster processing times and improved satisfaction.
Customers can book appointments through the Authority’s online portal or by contacting the Maritime Registration Department. Once confirmed, the customer completes payment and prepares for inspection using a pre-approved checklist. A secure video link is then shared for a scheduled remote session between the customer and inspector.
According to Hamed Hassan, Director of the Maritime Registration Department, the virtual inspection will be recorded after the customer’s consent, in compliance with the Authority’s transparency and governance standards. A final report will be issued digitally and made available for download.
The service forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to support maritime compliance and elevate Dubai’s position as a global leader in smart government and digital maritime services.
