Celebrating Heritage: The Second Edition of the AlUla Camel Cup Announced

ALULA, SAUDI ARABIA - The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has announced that the second edition of the AlUla Camel Cup will be held in collaboration with the Saudi Camel Federation in the Old Oasis from April 24 to 27, 2024.

This year’s competition is particularly significant as it falls in the “Year of the Camel”, a declaration made by the Kingdom in recognition of the camel’s cultural value and its enduring link to Saudi Arabian heritage. The competition is set to award significant cash prizes and trophies to winners, in an effort to encourage participation and elevate the level of competition.

RCU Chief Sports Officer, Ziad Alsuhaibani, stated that the AlUla Camel Cup is a prominent event in global camel competitions, and it strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a premier global hub for heritage sports. Rami AlMoallim, RCU’s Vice President of Destination Management and Marketing, added that the AlUla Camel Cup resonates with the passion of Saudi society and holds deep cultural significance as it reflects the Kingdom’s enduring heritage and traditions.

The success of the inaugural tournament last year emphasized the importance of camels in Arab culture, seamlessly connecting the past with the present. More information about the AlUla Camel Cup, including the race schedule and associated activities, will be announced soon on the official website.
