Amazon to Release Brett Ratner Documentary on Melania Trump

Riyadh, January 5, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Amazon Prime Video has announced the upcoming release of a documentary focusing on Melania Trump, the incoming first lady of the United States. Directed by Brett Ratner, the film promises an in-depth, behind-the-scenes portrayal of Melania Trump’s life and her unique journey.

Amazon confirmed on Sunday that it has secured exclusive licensing rights for both streaming and theatrical distribution of the documentary, set to premiere later this year. According to the company, the film offers an “unprecedented behind-the-scenes look” and a “truly unique story” of the former and soon-to-be first lady.

The documentary is currently in production, with executive producer Fernando Sulichin overseeing the project. This marks Ratner’s first directorial work since facing allegations of misconduct in 2017, which he denied through his legal team. Known for directing films such as Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand, Ratner’s involvement adds another layer of attention to the highly anticipated project.

Melania Trump’s Renewed Spotlight

The documentary follows the release of Melania Trump’s self-titled memoir late last year, further elevating her public profile as she prepares to return to the White House. As first lady during her husband’s initial presidency, she focused on raising their son, Barron, and championing the “Be Best” initiative, aimed at supporting the health and well-being of children.

Though she has largely remained out of the political spotlight, her occasional appearances, including at the Republican National Convention, signal a possible shift toward a more active role as first lady during Donald Trump’s second term.

Amazon’s Changing Relationship with the Trumps

The documentary underscores a notable development in the relationship between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump. Once marked by tension during Trump’s first term, their rapport appears to be improving. Amazon recently announced a $1 million donation to Trump’s inauguration fund, along with a separate in-kind donation to stream the event on its platform.

This move comes after Bezos expressed optimism regarding potential regulatory cutbacks during Trump’s presidency, marking a departure from their earlier public disagreements.

Controversies Surrounding the Project

The documentary’s announcement comes amidst controversy surrounding Ratner’s directorial return. The filmmaker faced allegations during the #MeToo movement, leading to his departure from the industry. Additionally, Amazon’s association with the documentary has drawn scrutiny due to Bezos’ decision in October to refrain from endorsing a candidate through The Washington Post, a choice that sparked protests and resignations within the newsroom.

Melania Trump’s enigmatic persona and reserved public life have long intrigued both supporters and critics. The forthcoming documentary promises to offer unprecedented insight into her life, adding depth to the narrative of her role in the Trump presidency as she prepares for a new chapter in the White House.
