Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has completed his move from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad on a free transfer. The 32-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Jeddah-based club.
Fabinho joined Liverpool from Monaco in 2018 and became a key player for the team playing in various positions and contributing to their success. He made 173 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 12 goals and providing 15 assists. He won five major trophies with the club, including the Premier League, The Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and FA Community Shield. He also received several individual awards, such as being named the PFA Team of the Year and the UEFA Squad of the Season.
"I am very happy to join Al Ittihad, a club with a rich history and passionate fans. I want to thank Liverpool for the amazing four years I spent there, and I will always have them in my heart. But now I am ready for a new adventure and I hope to help Al Ittihad achieve their goals", Fabinho said in a statement.
Al Ittihad are the oldest and most successful club in Saudi Arabia, having won 32 domestic titles and eight continental trophies. They gave been buys in the transfer market this summer, as they aim to reclaim their glory after finishing fourth in the Saudi Professional League last season. They have also signed French striker Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, Portuguese playmaker Igor Coronado from Sharjah FC, and Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazy from Al-Ittihad Alexandria.

Fabinho will face a new challenge in his career, as he will have to adapt to a new culture, a different league, and a competitive environment. He will also have the opportunity to play alongside some of the best players in Asia and compete for prestigious trophies. He is expected to make his debut for Al Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup against Al-Hilal on August 14. The match will be a clash of titans, as Al-Hilal are re reigning champions of the Saudi Professional League and the AFC Champions League, Al Ittihad and Al-Hilal have a long-standing rivalry, which is referred to as Saudi El Clasico.
