Riyadh, January 5, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Local Organizing Committee have announced that the 19th edition of Asia's premier football tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, 2027.


The highly anticipated tournament will feature matches in eight stadiums across three host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar, offering fans an unforgettable football experience.

State-of-the-Art Venues to Host Asia’s Best


  • Riyadh will host matches at the iconic King Fahd Sports City Stadium, currently undergoing extensive upgrades, as well as King Saud University Stadium, Al Shabab Stadium, Kingdom Arena, and the revamped Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud University Stadium, which will expand its capacity to 21,000 seats.

  • Jeddah will welcome fans at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, also known as “The Shining Jewel,” and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium.

  • Al Khobar will showcase matches at its newly constructed stadium, a key venue for the Eastern Region.


Milestone Announcement for Saudi Arabia


Saudi Arabian Football Federation President Yasser Al Misehal hailed the announcement as a milestone in Saudi Arabia’s preparation to host the tournament.


“The local organizing committee is committed to delivering an exceptional edition of the Asian Cup that meets the high expectations of football fans across the continent,” said Al Misehal.


He credited the success of Saudi Arabia’s football initiatives to the support of the Kingdom’s leadership and the guidance of Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, emphasizing the Kingdom’s growing reputation as a hub for international sports events.


A Growing Legacy of Sports Leadership


The AFC Asian Cup 2027 builds on Saudi Arabia’s recent success in hosting global events, including the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup and the Spanish and Italian Super Cups. The Kingdom is also set to host the final stages of this season’s AFC Champions League Elite and continues to welcome major events in other sports, such as Formula 1 and the Dakar Rally.


The tournament aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, further positioning the Kingdom as a leader in sports and culture on the international stage.


Teams and Final Qualifiers


Eighteen nations have already secured their place in the tournament, including host nation Saudi Arabia, Australia, Iraq, Japan, and the Korea Republic. Six remaining spots will be determined through the final round of AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, adding to the excitement of the tournament’s buildup.
