Abu Dhabi, April 30, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi has officially announced the opening of the capital’s first immersive butterfly sanctuary, scheduled for September 2025. The announcement was made during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, the region’s leading global travel and tourism event.

Located adjacent to The National Aquarium at Al Qana, The Butterfly Gardens will offer an immersive, nature-driven experience designed to elevate Abu Dhabi’s growing ecotourism sector. The attraction is set to host more than 10,000 butterflies within climate-controlled bio-domes that recreate tropical environments and house species from Asia and the Americas.

The facility will be divided into two major zones, each reflecting the biodiversity of its respective region. In the Americas dome, visitors will encounter butterflies alongside two-toed sloths, caiman crocodiles, and American insect species. The Asian dome will feature bearcats, koi carp, and native insects, offering a rich, educational experience rooted in regional ecosystems.

Paul Hamilton, General Manager of The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi, stated:

“With the Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi, our primary objective is to create an environment that authentically mirrors their natural habitats, ensuring they thrive in a secure and controlled setting. It is more than an attraction; it’s a nature reserve designed to promote a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our ecosystems. We aim to inspire visitors to engage with nature on a meaningful level."

The project combines conservation awareness with family-friendly entertainment, offering visitors an opportunity to explore nature at close range. As the first immersive butterfly sanctuary of its kind in the capital, the gardens are expected to appeal to residents, students, and international tourists alike.

The launch aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader commitment to biodiversity, sustainability, and the development of world-class leisure attractions that promote environmental education and responsible tourism.
